Stock Description: Surplus end of block born heifer calves from productive well managed autumn block calving herd. 14 calves are weaned and transitioned to dry feed with 6 more calves just coming up to weaning stage. Majority of the calves are sired by small stature Holstein or Irish Holstein-Friesian AI sires with a few stock bull sired. The herd is predominantly Holstein-Friesian with a small amount of Nordic and Jersey blood.
Production Capacity: The herd is performing very well over 8000 litres and rising 672 kg milk solids from a 650 kg liveweight cow. The herd makes full use of grazed grass in the spring and summer and tmr fed in the winter. Dec milk recording average was over 40 litres cow.
Age & Lactation: The calves were all born late October through to early December.
TB Status: 5
Health Status: The herd is individually Johnes tested with no calves out of known red cows. Strict colostrum and health protocols. The herd is in an annual testing area with no issues in the herd for 6+ years.
